I met people from different countries at the Japanese language school and university. I am glad that I have been able to learn different cultures. Being able to speak Japanese would have make things easier, but I didn’t have many difficulties because a lot of people speak English especially in Tokyo. However, I am not good at Chinese characters, and I regret that I didn’t study them more before coming to Japan, because it is required to read a lot of Japanese books for classes. I miss my family, but I have NFSA friends who always support me and have good times together with.

Tell us about your present study or research.

My specialty in Brazil was tax law, so I am mainly studying Japan’s tax law.

Did your consciousness as a Nikkei change in any way through studying in Japan?

Studying in Japan has enabled me to know more about the Japanese culture, meet other Nikkei people and feel proud of being a Nekkei.

What is your dream for the future?

I want to become a lawyer who can contribute to Brazilian and Japanese corporations in the future.

Please give a message to students who are considering studying in Japan.

I think there are many things that can be learned only in Japan. In my case, people around me tried to stop me when I decided to suspend my career as a lawyer and study in Japan, but I have no regrets whatsoever, because coming to Japan has expanded my possibilities. I think that the experiences in Japan helped me grow not only as a professional but also as a person.
